Global thinking
April 7, 2005 on 12:26 pm | In Philosophy |Today I edited an abstract from a Japanese professor for our ECEM conference. It was a very interesting experience as the way the Japanese express themselves in English somehow lets shine through how their own language works. I think I should definitely get serious about learning Japanese, my Japanophilia has kept growing stronger lately. I have also checked opportunities for international students and researchers at Japanese universities giving me the impression it pretty much works the same like in the USA.
It’’s amazing how the world has changed compared to the ones my parents and grandparents grew up in. For them it was already a big deal to travel somewhere else in Switzerland and learn French, and there I am 50 years later working with Nagayo on the same document in a matter of three business hours. My grandma thinks our world is getting worse and worse. I’m glad to have grown up in this world.
