When Saturday is Sunday

My family still sticks to traditional values like there’s no eating in front of the TV and church visits on the weekend. However, once a year lunch is explicitely served in front of the TV and Bernhard Russi preaches the ultimate truth. It’s the time of the annual Lauberhorn Downhill Ski Race.

The Lauberhorn challenge is probably the craziest in the world, but definitely the world’s longest downhill race. In our hearts we pray that every skier makes it down the track safely, but of course we also pray for minor glitches that slow down the Austrians. ;-)

The New York Times features an article on Bode Miller, the winner of today’s race. If you want to experience what it feels like to be in the Bernese Mountains, you may have a look at someone’s holiday video that also shares impressions of the race. If you want to experience the race from the perspective of a racer, join Arni99 doing the track in the Ski Challenge 2007 game (Windows binary available for free download).
